This list from a foodie friend at work:

GT Fish and Oyster, 531 N Wells (at Grand)
Naha, 500 N Clark (Xoco across the street is great, but more casual, and of course Frontera Grill)
Mercat a la Planxa, 638 S Michigan (in the Blackstone Hotel; Barcelona style tapas)
Purple Pig, 500 N Michigan (Bandera, just up and across the street, was good when I went several years ago)
Balsan, 11 E Walton (in the Elysian Hotel)
Café Spiaggia, 980 N Michigan (I think this shares some menu items from the main Spiaggia rest.)
Mercadito, 108 W Kinzie
Roka Akor, 111 W Illinois (haven't tried it, but there's a good review in this week's Reader http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/food-roka-akor-japanese-sashimi-robata/Content?oid=4497028)

More casual:
Eleven City Diner, 1112 S Wabash (a great old style diner, but classy. Not fine dining, but really good)
Bridgehouse Tavern, 321 N Clark (on the river, also try Fulton's, off of LaSalle)
Grahamwich, 615 N State, Graham Eliot's sandwich place
Seven on State, the upscale food court on Macy's 7th floor; Rick Bayless and Takashi Yagihashi have restaurants here.
